The Plastic Waste Management Rules 2016 (As amended 20222), introduced EPR (Extended Producers Responsibility) with the goal of ensuring processing of plastic packaging waste through:
In order to enforce this, liable entities must get an EPR certificate by registering on the central portal developed by the Government of India.
All entities having operations in India & generating plastic packaging waste are liable for EPR registration
Documents Required for EPR Registration
The process of procuring an EPR certificate can be long and tedious. Depending on the no. of registrations based on applicability, timeline for EPR registration can range from 15-30 days including filling of application.
The govt. Fees for EPR registration ranges from Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 50,000/-

Renewal Fees = Registration Fees
Annual Fees = 25% of Registration Fees
1st registration valid for 1 year
Renewals valid for 3 years
